In addition to other leaves you may be eligible for, California’s Pregnancy Disability Leave, or PDL, grants you up to four months of leave from work to accommodate pregnant employees.  This leave is in addition to any other leave you may be eligible for under the Fair Employment and Housing Act, California Family Rights Act, other state law and local ordinances, or your employer’s leave policies.

Your employer also cannot treat pregnancies different from other disabilities.  For example, if your employer provides more than four months of leave for other disabilities, then your employer must also provide the same leave for your pregnancy.

If you believe you have been discriminated against due to your pregnancy or related condition, please contact us for a free evaluation.
