James H. Demerjian, Esq.

Co-Founder of Arin | James LLP

James is a seasoned labor and employment attorney with over a decade of experience.  For over 10 years, James represented and defended employers in all areas of labor and employment matters.  In late 2019, James decided to take his talents to the other side and exclusively represent employees, bringing his unique and experienced perspective to provide employees with the highest quality representation.

James has handled numerous cases in both federal and state courts, tried cases before juries, successfully argued before the California Court of Appeal, handled numerous matters before government agencies such as the Labor Commissioner’s Office, and has prevailed in private arbitrations.  James is well-versed in all types of labor and employment disputes including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination cases.  James is also well-versed in wage and hour matters, including failure to pay wages, failure to pay overtime, failure to provide meal and rest breaks, failure to reimburse employees, and misclassification of employees and independent contractors.  He has handled numerous class action and representative action lawsuits.  James has written many employee handbooks and has advised employers on difficult situations such as discipline and terminations.  He has conducted internal investigations and has provided sexual harassment training to supervisors.  James has also written numerous articles on labor and employment issues and has served as a speaker at labor and employment law seminars.  Prior to starting this firm, James was fortunate to work as a Senior Counsel at the very prestigious labor and employment law firm of Ballard Rosenberg Golper & Savitt, LLP.

James’s legal career began in the Burbank City Attorney’s Office, where he tried a case before a jury on the day after he was sworn into the State Bar of California.  James is a savvy attorney and has prevailed majorly and many times on behalf of employers.  It’s time for employees to benefit from James’s knowledge and experience.  He will never back down.  He will always be available to his clients.  He will always provide top notch legal advice.  His experience, in the courtroom and in the areas of labor and employment law, allows him to vigorously represent his clients.  James has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers, an honor that only 2.5% of attorneys in the State of California receive each year.

Prior to becoming an attorney, James worked in politics as a field director and political director on presidential and gubernatorial campaigns.

In his spare time, James enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, three amazing daughters, parents, siblings, and nephew, cooking, playing guitar, working out, playing basketball, and running.  James also serves as a guest lecturer at Glendale Community College.
